What can we expect from Hearthstone's upcoming expansion?

Rating System: 5 / 5 -- Must Build around, Star Player in a deck 4 / 5 -- Generally Strong, auto-include in most decks or deck-defining

3 / 5 -- Has some potential, might be a tech card or more used depending on the meta

2 / 5 -- Not great for competitive play, but sees fringe experimentation and is not completely useless

1 / 5 -- Should never be used

Mage cards

Rating: 5 / 5

How I valued this: 7 mana 12/12 with Ragnaros effect Best deck to be used with: Odd Mage Pros and Cons: + Extreme value with the potential to remove the opponent's board (Ragnaros' 8 damage), Huge Tempo Swing + Easy to achieve condition as it has enough support

Rating: 4 / 5

How I valued this: 3 Mana 1/1 minion, deal 3 damage (or 4 damage in Odd Mage)

Best deck to be used with:

Odd Mage

Pros and Cons:

+ Great Tempo Swing for its cost + Fulfills Jan'alai's condition very quickly + Helps activate Frost Lich Jaina more easily

Rating: 4 / 5

How I valued this: 5 Mana 3/4 minion, deal 2 damage and draw a card (in Odd Mage) Best deck to be used with:

Odd Mage Pros and Cons: + Comparable to Acolyte of Pain but for Tempo Mage + Can also ping your own minions - Ultimately, it is still conditional and may not be unfair enough to be put in a deck

Rating: 2 / 5

How I valued this: Conditional "+ Spell Damage" only for your Hero Power Best deck to be used with:

Tempo Mage

Pros and Cons: + When combo-ed with Fire-Eater and you hit three minions, it fulfills Jan'alai's condition immediately + Potentially good against aggro decks - It requires specifically Fire-eater and cannot be improved by any other cards

- Useless against any non-aggro decks

Rating: 2 / 5

How I valued this: Volcanic Potion + Cabalist Tome

Best deck to be used with:

Quest Mage

Pros and Cons:

- Requires at least 2 kills to be worth it

- Just play Dragon's Fury! - Even with Quest Mage, it requires too much setup for it to work

Rating: 4 / 5

How I valued this: Old Ancient of Lore but better!

Best deck to be used with: Elemental Mage

Quest Mage

Pros and Cons:

+ In Quest Mage, the Coin can be useful + Extreme Value for decks that go to fatigue.

Rating: 1 / 5

How I valued this: A more expensive Duskbreaker,

A very weak Abyssal Enforcer Best deck to be used with: Elemental Mage

Pros and Cons:

- Extremely expensive considering that it is conditional. Mage has better options

- The forced 'chain an Elemental' every turn according to Mana curve is idealistic

Rating: 3 / 5

How I valued this: Elemental specific Innervate Best deck to be used with:

Elemental Mage

Pros and Cons: + Card disadvantage could be mitigated with ramping into Bonfire Elemental or Blaze Flamecaller - Possible Nerf to any cards that give 'random Mage spells'

Rating: 3 / 5

How I valued this: Best deck to be used with: Tempo Mage

Pros & Cons: + Extreme high roll potential + Probably the strongest secret

- Would score higher if Tempo Mage does better than Odd Mage, which is unlikely.

Rating: 4 / 5

How I valued this: At worst, a 4 mana 4/4 Stealth with a really strong effect (Blessing of Kings)

Best deck to be used with:

Buff Paladin

Pros & Cons: - Huge tempo loss

+ Shavallah helps to regain the tempo loss anyway + Has a high chance of steam-rolling after you buff it

Rating: / 5

How I valued this:

Best deck to be used with:

Pros & Cons:

- Undataeka combo
